Timing

Botswana has two distinct seasons that create dramatically different safari experiences. The dry summer season (May-October) is popular, offering excellent wildlife viewing and comfortable temperatures. The rain season (December-March) brings lush green landscapes, an influx of migratory birds and migrating zebras, dramatic afternoon thunderstorms, and temperatures reaching 32°C with high humidity.

Once we know more about your experience wish-list and ideal timing, we will tailor-make this safari idea to deliver the holiday of a lifetime for you and your family.

Safari tips

"Each stop is a new treat"

Ross Exler, Botswana safari expert: "I love the rich diversity of habitats within this itinerary - North Island’s mix of permanently flooded channels and dry traversing and the deeply incised Gomoti River at Tawana, juxtaposed with the arid Kalahari at Jack’s Camp. Each stop is a new treat."

Safari tips

"Quintessential 1940s"

Linda Fox, Botswana safari expert: "Jack's Camp is the quintessential 1940s luxury expedition camp. I love the history, artefacts and setting in the seemingly endless Makgadikgadi Pans.  Not to mention the chance to visit the meerkats and walk with Bushmen!"

Safari tips

"Magical helicopter flight"

Ramona Rubach, Botswana safari expert: "A helicopter trip across the Okavango Delta to your lodge is nothing short of magical. Skimming low over glittering channels and pools reveals an entirely new perspective, from elephants wading belly-deep to hippos basking in the sun. This is not just a transfer; it’s an unforgettable highlight that elevates the entire safari experience."

Travel in Africa is about knowing when and where to go, and with whom. A few weeks too early/late or a few kilometres off course, and you could miss the greatest show on Earth. And wouldn’t that be a pity?
