Trust us to find you the rarest animals, the most spectacular wildlife events, the remotest landscapes and deeply meaningful cultural encounters!
The Ifotaka Community Forest in southeast Madagascar is as remote as it is wild. It encompasses a vast expanse of gallery and spiny forest and has been preserved by the Antandroy Tribe, one of Madagascar’s most traditional and fiercest tribes.
The Antandroy's tribal ancestors are buried in tombs in these sacred forests. By guarding their graves, the Antandroy have also preserved pristine wildlife areas.
Ifotaka is home to many endemic species - including ring-tailed lemurs, Verreaux’s sifaka, white-footed sportive lemurs, lesser hedgehog tenrec, Madagascar flying fox and hissing cockroach - to name a few.
Birdwatchers, too, will be delighted with an endemic species list that includes Lafresnayes and hook-billed vangas, Verreaux's crested and giant couas and Madagascar scops owl.
The Mandrare River flows through Ifotaka, providing a lifeline to one of Earth's most unique and remote biological regions.

Handcrafted experiential safaris since 1991.
Travel in Africa is about knowing when and where to go, and with whom. A few weeks too early/late or a few kilometres off course, and you could miss the greatest show on Earth. And wouldn’t that be a pity?
